Honey Boba (Honey Milk Tea)

Are you a fan of bubble tea? If so, you’ll love this homemade honey boba tea—a sweet, creamy, and refreshing drink that’s easy to make! This recipe features chewy tapioca pearls soaked in honey syrup, giving your tea a natural sweetness.

Let’s get started!

What is Honey Boba?

Honey boba tea is a delicious Taiwanese drink that blends tea, milk, and honey-soaked tapioca pearls. Unlike traditional boba sweetened with brown sugar, this version uses pure honey for a light and floral taste. You can customize it with your favorite tea base (black or green) and even add toppings like fresh fruit.

Ingredients You’ll Need

For the Boba Pearls:

  • ½ cup uncooked black tapioca pearls
  • 4 cups water
  • ¼ cup honey

For the Tea:

  • 6 cups water
  • 2 tea bags (black tea or green tea)
  • 4 tablespoons honey (adjust to taste)
  • ½ cup milk (or a milk alternative)
  • Ice cubes

How to Make Honey Boba Tea

Step 1: Cook the Tapioca Pearls

  • Cook the boba pearls according to the package instructions.
  • Once cooked, drain and rinse them under cold water to prevent them from sticking together.

Step 2: Sweeten the Boba

  • In a small saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of honey and 4 cups of water over medium heat until the honey dissolves.
  • Add the cooked boba to the honey water and let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb the flavor.
  • Drain and set the boba aside.

Step 3: Brew the Tea

  • Bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
  • Remove from heat, add tea bags, and steep for 5 minutes.
  • Remove the tea bags and stir in 2 tablespoons of honey (or more, depending on your preferred sweetness).

Step 4: Assemble Your Honey Boba Tea

  • Divide the boba pearls between two glasses.
  • Add ice cubes to each glass.
  • Pour in the brewed tea and ¼ cup of milk (or milk alternative) into each glass.
  • Stir well and enjoy!

Enjoy Your Refreshing Honey Boba Tea!

Now you have a homemade honey boba tea that’s just as delicious as what you’d get at a boba shop—but with natural sweetness from honey. Try experimenting with different teas and milk options for a unique flavor twist.
